Having qualified and worked at PwC in Germany before moving to the UK in 2003 has put me in a very good position to advise on international VAT in general and European VAT in particular, as I am mindful of the different approaches on technical aspects of the VAT law but also of differences in culture and communication. In the UK I worked at two Big Four and a mid-tier firm before joining the VAT and Customs advisory team at Blick Rothenberg in 2018. Here, I am particularly enjoying the opportunities awarded by our focus on international work and our collaborative working environment.
I also take a particular interest in VAT on financial services which is an area where VAT does not flow through but creates a cost to businesses. As VAT legislation and guidance are unable to keep up with the speed of innovation in financial products, technology and crypto assets, finding the right VAT solution can often be a challenge.
