HM Treasury will be big benefactors of Oasis’ announcement of a new tour

HMRC’s gonna ‘Roll with it’

The reunion of the band Oasis will bring the Government a welcome boost to the UK economy.

Paul Haywood-Schiefer, Senior Manager said:

Thousands of expectant Oasis fans got the news they were hoping for this week. The fervour created by the reunion gigs will be a boost to the UK economy, which will be happily received by the Government.

It’s great news for Keir Starmer and he wouldn’t be the first Labour Prime Minister Noel Gallagher has helped settle into their new job! One of the most enduring images of New Labour, aside from Tony Blair’s keepie-uppies with Kevin Keegan, was the sight of Noel Gallagher, glass of fizz in hand, for Tony Blair’s post-election party at Downing Street. His presence at that time, helping to give credence to a young generation looking for change and following Blair’s ‘Cool Britania’ theme.

Noel Gallagher is now helping Keir Starmer, not by appearing at some fancy shindig as he did 27 years ago, but by making a positive impact on the economy. With impeccable timing considering the election has just passed.

These kinds of events generate a massive amount of money, not just for the band and promoters from ticket sales, but for a whole range of third parties. There will be huge sums of money spent on merchandise, travel, hotels, bars and restaurants, as well as creating jobs which are all linked directly to these gigs.

With the reunion gigs being hosted at stadiums located in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin it won’t just be the national economy benefitting. Fans from around the globe will descend on those cities, bringing new money into the local economies as well.

When all is done and dusted’ the treasury will then collect their share through VAT on sales, Corporation tax on profits, then Income tax and National Insurance from wages and self-employed profits.

Paul added:

Given the boost to the economy and HMRC’s coffers, ‘Definitely, Maybe’ Noel should expect some thanks from Starmer!
