Nimesh Shah, CEO said:
To see so many promotions is fantastic and I am incredibly proud of everyone’s achievements. Annie, Gail, Kish and Lisa will add a new dimension to our partner group, and I am looking forward to working with them, and their contributions on the future direction and growth of Blick Rothenberg.
The success of our people is the best part of my role, and our leadership is looking forward to supporting our future partners and delivering even more promotions across the firm.
Annie Hughes has been promoted to Partner in US/UK Private Client. She previously worked for Westleton Drake for eight years before joining Blick Rothenberg’s US/UK team in 2013.
Annie said:
I specialise in providing tax advice to internationally mobile Americans and individuals looking to move to the US. Over 2,200 high net worth individuals moved to the US in 2023. I speak with individuals every week who are being head-hunted or taking their successful UK businesses to the US. Ensuring individuals understand the complexities of the US tax system and structure their affairs efficiently before the move is key.
Lisa Gray has also been promoted to Partner in US/UK Private Client. She has worked at Blick Rothenberg for over six years and been in the industry for over ten years
Lisa said:
Americans love a trust, and when the settlor or their families move around the world, we see first-hand the impact local tax law can have on a family’s wealth. It is a common misconception that all trusts are used to shelter assets from taxation.
In many cases and especially where Americans are involved and live overseas, they often don’t save tax but are instead liable to penal rates of tax, and in some cases double tax! Labour were clear in their manifesto that they will be reviewing the taxation of non-UK trusts and only time will tell how much that will impact our American clients.
Gail Cobley has been promoted to Partner in Outsourced Business Services. She joined Blick Rothenberg in 2018 after working with companies from SMEs to multi-billion internationally focussed entities. She is also the Chair of BRidge, the firms Inclusive Disability Group for Employees.
Gail said:
I love working with clients to ensure their accounting and payroll requirements are met and to help with any concerns or queries they may have. My focus is mostly on the DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) region but I also work with many clients across the rest of the world.
We need to make increasing use of technology, as many of our clients work with global technology solutions that they want us to use. We are also working in new overseas territories with partner firms there to provide a seamless service to our clients.
Kish Shah has been promoted to Partner in Audit, Accounting & Outsourcing. He joined Blick Rothenberg in 2016, having previously worked in audit at a Big 4 firm.
As a Partner in our Mid-Market Audit practice, I work closely with a broad range of clients, including those privately owned and part of large international groups, to understand commercial, regulatory, and technological aspects on the horizon and provide advice and support to foster success.
It is an exciting but challenging time for many businesses, and the environment for growth is changing – care will be needed to navigate a potential new landscape for tax and economic policies under a Labour government, as well as adapt to increasing regulatory compliance, an overhaul of the UK accounting framework in 2025 and integrate innovative technologies to improve processes for efficiency and control.
The following people at Blick Rothenberg have been promoted to Director:
Hayley Loft in Audit, Accounting & Outsourcing, Sarah Wilson-Nolan in Corporate Tax, Hayley Howell in International Outsourcing, Mark Edser in Finance, Kugan Panchalingam in Private Client and Oliver Burton in US/UK Private Client.
