The role

This opportunity will be working within our International Outsourced Accounting department. Our specialist services are designed to support the back office accounting and management reporting functions of a wide range of international business as they expand. This allows our clients to invest their resources where they are needed most on building new markets while we look after the accounting.

The Manager has the primary task of controlling the workflow on a portfolio of clients, dealing with technical queries as they arise and completing quality control reviews in a timely and accurate fashion. This requires technical knowledge, attention to detail and an ability to organise the workloads of others. The Manager is a key individual in building and maintaining strong relationships with key individuals at the client.

You will also have responsibility to review, management reports, VAT returns and registrations, payment runs, and the client billing process. You will also be the primary contact with senior client contacts, typically Financial Controllers and CFO level who will be based overseas along with the clients UK based operational team.

An accountancy qualification such as ACA or ACCA are essential for this role. Your journey will continue via mentorship by the senior management team to provide soft skills development to include client and staff management. Personal coaching will also be available as your journey continues beyond formal qualifications tailored to your own individual aspirations and can even help you plot your route to Director/Partner.

Key accountabilities

An opportunity has arisen for a talented assistant manager or manager to join our growing Entrepreneurial Business tax advisory team. The team at Blick Rothenberg is a virtual team which spans the Private Client Tax and Corporation Tax teams. The team is led by five partners who each have more than a decade of experience working in the Big 4.

The role will suit an ambitious assistant manager or manager with experience of assisting advisory work on a wide range of shareholder driven tax matters in private companies/businesses, including M&A transactions (either acquisition-side or sell-side), due diligence, company/business reorganisations and demergers, fundraising/refinancing events, ownership succession, management buy-outs, and equity incentive arrangements. The role will be almost wholly advisory focussed, with compliance responsibilities limited to the reporting of complex transactions. Your experience may be weighted more towards the personal or corporate level advice in the types of areas above, but with a good awareness of the other.

Key responsibilities and duties will include the following:

  • Assisting with the delivery of tax advisory services on a project-by-project basis, working directly with partners in the Entrepreneurial Business team;
  • Carrying out detailed technical research and preparing first drafts of tax advisory reports, step-plans, memos and emails.
  • Shadowing partners on advisory projects to learn and develop directly on the job, including being part of advisory meetings, joining advisory calls with clients, contributing to internal brain-storming sessions and liaison with other professional advisers.
  • Being the first point of contact for many clients.
  • Supervision and training of junior staff.
  • Ensuring all risk procedures are adhered to.

You will be involved with a wide range of clients, so experience dealing with clients across different sectors is desirable but not essential. 

The ideal candidate would be ACA and/or CTA qualified and have post qualification experience in the areas described above.

The more detailed services completed are the review of VAT returns and registrations, review and production of management accounts, payment runs, client billing process, dealing with regular and ad-hoc queries as they arise and provision of these deliverables in an accurate and timely way. The role will include the implementation of new clients with and without the support of senior management; and the management of the staff completing such work both to meet the standards required in the short run, to reduce the support needed to do so over time; and in the longer run to allow staff to progress in their own careers.

The role requires significant interaction with, and leadership of, the BRFS team. In most cases there will be direct line management of more junior staff. You will communicate with these individuals, and others, including outsourcers, regardless of whether they are their direct line manager, on a regular basis to train and develop them from both a technical and personal perspective.

You will have the primary contact with senior client staff, typically Financial Controllers and CFO level staff along with operational staff.  As such, you will need to be confident in communicating both in writing and, both more significantly and more often, over the phone with staff of differing level of seniority including at third parties such as auditors and HM Revenue & Customs.

An accountancy qualification such as ACA or ACCA are essential for this role. The role

What is the role?

Providing on-site support for our audit clients to include planning, day to day managing of workload and liaising with clients from a mixed portfolio of industries and turnover.

Opportunity to complete audit assignments, whilst building and maintaining strong relationships with new and established clients.

You will be working and collaborating with other members of the audit team and the wider department as necessary to provide high quality client service.

As part of your position, you will have exposure to mentoring and training new starters within the team.

Some assignments may require travel as you work more closely with some of your audit clients.

Key accountabilities

As a Senior your main responsibilities will be:

  • Providing an efficient, client focussed and proactive service to meet the needs of private clients.
  • Working with directors and managers on technical assignments.
  • Managing day to day client portfolio including billing and monitoring work in progress.
  • Ensuring that the firm’s risks are managed appropriately.
  • Liaising with HMRC in relation to client matters and dealing with enquiries from HMRC.
  • To liaise proactively with clients on advisory matters.
  • To meet new clients with the appropriate partner/director and be a main point of contact with those clients going forward
  • Preparing personal and partnership tax return
  • To review personal and partnership tax returns prepared by more junior members of staff / prepare complex compliance cases.

You must be either CTA or ACA qualified to be considered for this opportunity.

As a Private Client Tax Senior Manager, you will provide advice to clients in connection with their tax affairs and be responsible for managing day-to-day aspects a large portfolio including billing, delegation and monitoring work in progress. Additionally, you will also oversee developing new work from existing clients and business development. You will have strong experience of working within practice and have exposure to the essential elements of client service and delivery.

An accountancy qualification such as ACA or CTA are essential for this role.  Your journey will continue via mentorship by the senior management team to provide soft skills development to include client and staff management.  Personal coaching will also be available as your journey continues beyond formal qualifications tailored to your own individual aspirations and can even help you plot your route to Director/Partner.

The role

This opportunity will be working within our International Outsourced Accounting department. Our specialist services are designed to support the back office accounting and management reporting functions of a wide range of international business as they expand. This allows our clients to invest their resources where they are needed most on building new markets while we look after the accounting.

As a Financial Administrator, your primary task will be managing client’s administrative matters to include coding and posting invoices and expenses claims; co-ordinating the collation of information; responding to day-to-day queries; preparing payment runs; maintaining supplier details; managing receivables ledgers and other such matters. You will also aid the Management Accountants with collation and posting of accounting records, accurate and timely filing of financial information and the resolution of any review points raised as part of our quality control process along with monitoring the purchase ledger and sales ledger on an on-going basis and deal with issues before they become significant. You will have experience working within a finance team. Exposure to an outsourcing practice and to the essential elements of client service are desirable but not essential. You will also need to speak either German or Spanish fluently or at business level to be considered for this opportunity. 

An accountancy qualification or working towards one such as an ATT/AAT/CIMA is desirable but not essential for this role. Personal coaching will also be available as your journey continues beyond formal qualifications tailored to your own individual aspirations.

As an Accounts Senior, you will work on a portfolio of accounts clients alongside the preparation of financial statements and Corporation Tax computations/returns for both incorporated and unincorporated entities. The main purpose of the role is to prepare statutory accounts for offshore companies/trusts and for UK companies in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS102.  You will have strong experience of working within practice and have exposure to the essential elements of client service and delivery.
