HMRC launches Border Operational Model paper

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) today (Monday 13 July)  launched its document on the proposed Border Operational Model ahead of the frontier changes of January 2021.

Whilst the paper is a reasonable overview of the plans for the frontier for both exporters and importers, more detailed and hopefully more refined guidance should be expected as the days go by. Additionally, it is believed that HMRC will be contacting a number of high-value EU traders individually to discuss their business models.

However, as expected, the six-month delay for submitting customs declarations and deferring duty is not as simple and inclusive as it first seemed.

The guide can be accessed here.
