Russell qualified with a medium sized practice in 1979. He spent two years at KPMG's London office where he carried out work on mergers and acquisitions and a number of special projects. Russell subsequently spent two years at N M Rothschild & Son Limited in their asset management department. He was PA to a director and represented N M Rothschilds at meetings on their equity based funds.
In 1983 Russell, together with two other partners, founded the practice Hazlems before it merged to form Hazlems Fenton in 1989. Hazlems Fenton was acquired by Blick Rothenberg in 2018. He is head of litigation support and has prepared many reports to assist the court in litigation disputes and has attended court as a forensic expert witness.
Russell also has a number of company directorships.
