Jim Brown


Jim has a Master's Degree from St Catherine's College, Oxford University, an MBA from Imperial College, London and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Jim focuses on supporting businesses of all sizes as they expand internationally.

Jim started his career in 1997 as a trainee at Blick Rothenberg, and was made a partner within the firm in July 2007. Since joining he has been engaged in a number of activities including internal audit and systems reviews and various accounting investigations. In the business group he managed a portfolio of over 100 clients from numerous different countries and industries.

During 2002, he was seconded to our associate office in Vancouver, since when he has focused on clients with an international aspect. Jim has also undertaken, in 2001, a nine-month secondment to a FTSE 100 listed entity to assist in accounting for their first significant disposal. This involved significant work on both management accounting and preparation of systems-related documentation.

He has been a director of our subsidiaries focused on providing business support to companies expanding globally since 2004, managing director in 2007 and a partner in Blick Rothenberg in June of the same year. Jim has active responsibility for assisting clients establish their overseas operations, both in the UK and elsewhere. This involves day-to-day interaction with clients ranging from professional practices, growing family owned businesses, venture capital and private equity backed corporations to listed entities including on the FTSE 100, NYSE and Nasdaq.

Jim is trustee/governor of a number of local charities that focus on education, including a special designated further education college, a local city farm and a foundation supporting education in Merton. He enjoys reading, watching sports, entertaining his two young boys and working to try and bring down his rather too high golf handicap.
