Alex Altmann


Alex is a dual-qualified accountant in Germany and the UK, where he is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance at the Berlin School of Economics and Law in Germany and also holds a Master’s degree in International Tax Law from the Queen Mary School of Law, University of London.


Alex advises international corporates, primarily from German speaking countries and the US, on global expansion projects, with a focus on setting up operations in the UK. He is recognised as an international tax expert and speaks regularly at tax conferences, appears on radio and TV and also writes tax related articles and commentaries for a variety of publishers and newspapers. He has also been invited by the German courts to provide his opinion as an expert on cross-border tax dispute cases between the UK and Germany. Alex has been selected as a member of the ICAEW’s Tax Faculty VAT and Duties committee and is providing expert advice, including on high-level Brexit topics.

Before Alex joined Blick Rothenberg he gained multinational professional experience working for international accounting practices in Berlin (Germany) and New York (United States). He also worked as the Head of Tax Services at the German-British Chamber of Commerce in London.

Alex plays an active part in the German business community in the UK. He is a board member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and maintains good relationships with the British Swiss Chamber and the Austrian Trade Commission in London. In his spare time Alex enjoys playing the piano, skiing and the occasional round of golf. He is an avid Tottenham Hotspur supporter and he regularly attends home games.
