Assistant Manager - Property

This is an Assistant Manager role which will focus on working with clients solely in the property sector. This role will involve preparing accounts, bookkeeping, management accounts and other general accounting responsibilities. You will be working with a large portfolio of clients, ranging from small companies to large international organisations.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Preparation of accounts for UK companies in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS102
  • Preparation of accounts for international companies
  • Undertake bookkeeping for a variety of clients; inputting data and processing payments as required
  • Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts as dictated by client
  • Complete VAT returns for allocated clients
  • Cash flow modelling
  • Working on client premises 2 days a week
  • Interacting with Managing Directors of the client companies
  • Carrying out ad-hoc assignments
 
You will also assist and supervise junior members of the team, providing them with guidance and expertise. This role will suit an ACA/ACCA qualified candidate or someone who is qualified by experience and has a strong understanding of Financial Reporting Standards.
 
Essential criteria:
 
  • ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by equivalent experience
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice with accounts preparation and management accounts/bookkeeping (minimum 3 years)
  • Experience of working with a property client base
  • Must be able to read Excel formulae and construct own models for investment/finance opportunities. Models typically must be constructed from scratch
 
Skills and personal attributes required:
 
  • Knowledge of property accounting: property developments, investment properties, CapEx vs Revenue, lease accounting, inter-group financing
  • Awareness of property issues: covenant reporting (ICR, LTV, debt servicing ratios), leasing events (reversionary, renewals, break options, rent reviews), service charge, landlord shortfalls, LPA Receiverships
  • Understanding of overseas reporting regimes: Non-Resident landlord scheme, Jersey/BVI/IoM structures
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
  • Good compliance/accounts production skills
