Nimesh Shah recognised in “Eprivateclients’ 50 most influential 2015”

Nimesh Shah, partner at Blick Rothenberg, has been named in “Eprivateclients’ 50 most influential 2015”. The “50 Most Influential” is designed to identify, recognise, promote and introduce the leading practitioners of the private client profession. In response to the recognition, we interviewed Nimesh on the background of his career, achievements and experience within Blick Rothenberg.

What do you think are your key achievements to date?
For me it has to be making it to partner earlier this year. I have been in practice for just under ten years, and there are not many people in my age bracket who can claim the same achievement. I have also been involved in some very high scale transactions throughout my career, for example advising a family on selling their business for £200 million. I provided advice and worked with lawyers to move the transaction ahead. This was a big achievement and it was very exciting.

How do you develop effective relationships with your clients?
Being responsive is key. I always aim to get back to clients within 24 hours at the very latest. Being proactive is also very important; things constantly change in this profession and so it is vital to think about your clients at all times. Making sure you are contacting them rather than clients contacting you demonstrates that you are always thinking about and looking after them.

What do you think is unique about Blick Rothenberg?
We are very different to other accountancy firms in the profession. Our clients are at the centre of everything we do; this is really true for Blick Rothenberg. One of the attractions of working here was the opportunity to provide an excellent, valuable service for clients that saves them money. The reputation of the firm also appealed to me.

How do you see the private client department developing in the future?
The market is changing. The age of private clients is becoming younger, for example with the increase in young tech entrepreneurs looking to sell their businesses. It is important to the firm that we remain in line with the needs of our clients.

Bringing commercial advice is something that our clients are looking for increasingly. They no longer want an accountant to just conduct an audit or a tax return. The reason they come to Blick Rothenberg is due to the level of the advice we offer and the network of connections that we can provide to our clients, to help benefit them and their business. This close network of connections dates back to the start of the firm 70 years ago, along with some of our clients and their families.
