Ahead of the very first Autumn Budget, Blick Rothenberg director Robert Pullen looks ahead to what the Chancellor should announce with regard to EIS.
The Chancellor should
resist restricting EIS relief - this has been an invaluable source of investment for high-risk start up trading businesses which would otherwise not have been viable. The fact that tax relief is claimed (costing HM Revenue & Customs £395m in 2015/16) means the system is working well, not that it is being taken advantage of. Any changes should be measured and should not
jeopardise this economic booster or otherwise tarnish its reputation unfairly.
