Tax Investigation Fee Protection

Have you ever considered the possible cost of an HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) investigation?

HMRC have powers to investigate income tax and corporation tax payers at random, and the number of these investigations is expected to increase dramatically over future years.

If you are a self-assessment tax payer, an employer filing P11D forms on employee benefits, or VAT returns, or if you are responsible for employees' PAYE then you could be subject to a random investigation. Even if the Revenue finds nothing as a result of the investigation, you will still have unexpected professional fees to pay as a result.

Blick Rothenberg offers tax investigation fee protection to help clients guard against such unexpected fees.

A summary of the cover, which includes protection up to £75,000 of our fees (unless otherwise stated), is given below, though the written policy documentation should always be consulted:

  • Income Tax Self Assessment Full Enquiries
  • Corporation Tax Self Assessment Full Enquiries
  • Income Tax Self Assessment Aspect Enquiries (subject to nil excess and a limit of £3,500 including VAT)
  • Corporation Tax Self Assessment Aspect Enquiries (subject to nil excess and a limit of £7,500 including VAT)
  • Employer Compliance Disputes (PAYE, P11D and NIC disputes)
  • IR35 Disputes

The insurance is only available to Blick Rothenberg clients for whom we submit tax returns and does not reimburse additional tax, interest or penalties that may become due as a result of the enquiry.

We strongly recommend that clients consider subscribing to this service.

We cannot prevent you from being investigated by the Revenue, but we can help to ensure that you get the best possible support and advice without having to worry about the cost.
