 Partner profiles: David
Rothenberg
 David Rothenberg advises the firm's
corporate and private clients on strategic tax planning. He also advises
clients on international tax planning, particularly non-domiciles and UK
residents working abroad, whether permanently or temporarily.
David is an acknowledged expert in his
field: recently, he was approached by professional advisers to two clients, and
asked to assist in major international tax enquiries - both were settled
successfully. He has also recently appeared as an expert witness in a
professional negligence case.
David is a consultant to the committee of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales' Faculty of
Taxation and member of its IHT and trusts committee. He has been invited by the
Chartered Institute of Taxation to submit a fellowship thesis which he is
presently writing and is a Member of International Fiscal Association.
He is a regular media commentator on tax
and related issues, contributing to the national and consumer press, trade
journals, radio (News Direct, BBC Radio 4 Moneybox and Today),
the web (www.timesonline.co.uk,
www.thisislondon.co.uk,
www.pa.press.net,
www.teletext.co.uk,
accountingweb.co.uk),
and TV (BBC1 Business Breakfast, BBC2 Working Lunch).
David is a Fellow of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He was born in 1940 and has been a
partner in the firm since 1968. He and his wife Ruth live in North London, and
they have four children and five grandchildren. In his spare time, David
regularly attends theatre and opera, and is an enthusiastic amateur
photographer (of his family mostly!).
David is actively involved in his
community. He is dedicated to working on behalf of Jewish refugees from Nazi
persecution, as vice-chairman and treasurer of the Association of Jewish
Refugees, as a member of the Board of The Conference on Jewish Material Claims
Against Germany Inc., and as a director of the United Restitution Organisation
