The Awakening Giant: How China is changing the rules of competition and consumption worldwide

20 October 2004

China is changing the rules of competition and consumption around the world and emerging Chinese companies are now looking for partners in the west and particularly in the UK.

" Many Chinese companies wish to do business in Europe and see the UK and London in particular as a good jumping off point to achieve this, said Steven Bruck, a senior partner at London chartered accountants Blick Rothenberg," but as this is new to many of them they wish to set up partnerships.

Bruck added:" There is huge potential for Chinese and British companies to work together and we have already received enquiries from Chinese companies wishing to do business here.

The Chinese, of course, are not just looking at the UK and Europe, but at the whole world and Bruck is one of over 100 accountants from around the world who will meet in Hong Kong next week to discussed the possibilities as part of the International BKR group.

The meeting will focus on China's unprecedented concentration on business and economy and features sessions on inter-company pricing around the world, effective practice leadership, Asian economics, and mergers and acquisitions.

Bruck said: I will be meeting with companies in Hong Kong, Shanghia and Xiang who wish to do business in the UK. They range from heavy engineering to those making toys.

Steven Bruck will be in Hong Kong from Friday 22nd October pm until Tuesday 26th October He can be contacted at the Intercontinental Hotel 18 Salisbury Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong on +852 2721 1211.
